The Borno State Trip and Matters Arising

The general public may recall that the Office of the SA to the Governor of Nasarawa State on Education coordinated a Study Tour to Borno State Education Trust Fund.

The Tour commenced on Sunday, 22nd June, 2025 with the primary aims and objectives of providing us with the requisite knowledge, operational guidelines, administrative structure, projects and programs, mode of engagement with development partners at home and in the diaspora, relationship with other MDAs and other initiatives that makes the Trust Fund thick and solid.

Indeed, we’re happy to inform the public that we have actually went, we saw and to the glory of God, we conquered.

At the interactive session with the Board and top management of the Borno state Education Trust Fund, we were tutored on the operational guidelines and EVERYTHING we need to know about the Trust Fund. The industry and intelligence of the Executive Secretary of BOETF is top notch.

Another remarkable achievement is in the area of relationship between the Trust Fund and the Bureau of Public Procurement. The DG of Borno State BPP did an excellent job.

The networking on Tuesday, 24th June, 2025 was quite hectic. The entire management of the Borno State Education Trust Fund collapsed their activities and took us round the length and breadth of the State to see the numerous projects embarked upon by the Trust Fund.

The delegation visited the University of Maiduguri, Federal Government Girls College, Monguno, Federal Government College, Maiduguri, Shehu Garbai Schools, Damboa Road, Maiduguri, Second Chance Girls/Women Skills Acquisition School, Ngharnnam, Bolori II, Maiduguri, Shehu Sanda Kyarimi Government Day Secondary School, Maiduguri, Borno State Vocational Enterprise Institute, Maiduguri and other Institutions too numerous to mention.

In all these institutions visited, there were lots of signature projects of BOETF. But the most touching one is that of FGGC Monguno and FGC Maiduguri where the Trust Fund enrolled hundreds of orphans that lost their parents as a result of Boko Haram insurgency. We interacted with the students and it was a very touching and emotional experience.

Another very important session is with the Speaker and Members of Borno State House of Assembly. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan alongside the Principal Officers and members of the Assembly to receive us and undertake a robust engagement. The session was very educative.

In addition, the engagement with the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe is a school of its own. The versatility of the Commissioner is something else. He knows virtually all the terrain in Nasarawa state.

At this juncture, we wish to formally convey our utmost appreciation to the Board Chairman, Prof. Hauwa Abdu Biu, the Executive Secretary, Hon. (Dr). Maina Yaumi and the entire management staff for the hospitality and share of knowledge. The tour will remain indelible in our archives.

In furtherance to this, we received a special gift and sumptuous packages from the Trust Fund. This, the ES reiterated that it’s part of the culture and tradition of the Kanuris that guests don’t go back home empty handed.

Finally, we wouldn’t have achieved this feat without the support and encouragement of our Principal, His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, the Most Education Friendly Governor of Nasarawa state. The opportunity given to us and the enabling environment provided for us to function cannot be over emphasized. We thank His Excellency most profoundly.

May Allah make things easy for His Excellency to EXCEED ALL EXPECTATIONS.
