The twenty-ninth anniversary celebration and award day of the Nasarawa State Students Association (NASSA), which brought together students from different tertiary institutions across the country, featured the presentation of an award of merit to the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund, Abubakar Idris Adamu, for positively impacting the students within the short period since the establishment of the trust fund.

Speaking during the event, the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund, Abubakar Idris Adamu, revealed that the state government deemed it necessary to establish the Education Trust Fund to improve the standard of education through the payment of scholarships, the construction and renovation of schools across the state, and various interventions in the education sector.

The Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Education Trust Fund, who spoke on the topic “Leadership and Academic Excellence: A Roadmap for the Younger Generation,” noted that students are expected to engage in skills acquisition programs to enable them to be self-reliant even after graduating, and assured them of the trust fund’s determination to always assist students in that regard.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board, Hajiya Saadatu Yahaya, commended the NASSA national body for the initiative and appealed to all stakeholders to support the education sector. She also cautioned students against indulging in negative activities that may affect their studies, a position corroborated by Mr. Isaac Kigbu among other speakers.

Earlier, the National President of the Nasarawa State Students Association, Abimiku Ovye David, noted that the event was geared towards awarding individuals and groups that have contributed to the growth and development of students in the state and appreciated all who made the event a success.

The presentation of awards to deserving individuals climaxed the twenty-ninth anniversary of the Nasarawa State Students Association (NASSA).
